The Film and Media Arts Department (DCAM) at Lusófona University is a leading institution in Portugal for education, research and creative practice in film, audiovisual and media arts.
We combine artistic practice, technical expertise and technological innovation, offering BA, MA and PhD programmes in an environment focused on creativity, experimentation and collaboration.
Through FilmEU – European University for Film and Media Arts, DCAM is part of a European network of leading institutions in film and media arts education and research, strengthening its international dimension and its connections with the professional sector.
Lusófona University is the coordinator of FilmEU European University for Film and Media Arts and is now recognised as the leading provider of film and media education in Portugal and an active participant in the European training and research landscape across these areas.
The Film and Media Arts Department (DCAM) is committed to providing hands-on, specialised training, fostering individual and collaborative creative growth, and serving as a testing ground for emerging film and media technologies. Our department promotes initial, continuous and advanced training across the different areas of film and media creation and development, and it is actively engaged in several research projects with partners and organisations at national and international levels.
The Film and Media Arts Department offers state-of-the-art facilities and equipment within a vibrant environment that nurtures our students’ talent and their drive for creative and technical fulfilment.
The department and student productions are regularly funded by the Film and Audiovisual Institute (ICA), and the university is a full member of CILECT - Centre International de Liaison des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévision and GEECT - Groupe Européen des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévision, and is accredited by the EU for the provision of initial and continuous training.
