Invitation to film schools > Poitiers Film Festival 2015

We kindly invite you to open your diaries and write down the dates of our 38th edition, which will be held from November 27 to December 4, 2015.

Following our owl’s example, do open up your eyes and listen carefully!

The Rencontres Henri Langlois, from now on called Poitiers Film Festival since 2014, keep looking after the young creation. Our purpose: to make the audience discover your productions’ wealth and your students’ talent. Both a cradle and a springboard, Poitiers has faith in film schools. Since they are both training and expressing places, they are the places where we witness the birth of the technicians’ and filmmakers’ new generations. And we are proud to present the greats-to-be you trained on big screens.

Renowned for its selection quality and its convivial atmosphere, the event welcomes up to 200 professionals yearly. They mostly come to attend the competing films’ screenings and the Focus programme, but also because of the daily night events of the festival: a cinema master class, a silent movie screening with live musical accompaniment, previews…

FOCUS ON GERMANY

The upcoming edition will sound with Germanic overtones, thanks to the coming of an eight German schools delegation on the occasion of the Focus programme. An opportunity to meet your counterparts, and to exchange views with them.

ROUND TABLE

We will take advantage of their presence in Poitiers to explore the relationships between schools and market at the usual round table. The discussion will aim at pinpointing the distinctive features of the German model, in which production companies and televisions are involved in the production of students’ films. This discussion will take place on Tuesday, December the 1st and will be hosted by Pierre Gras, a film economy expert, author of an essay on German cinema after the Reunification.

REMINDER: COMPETITION

Lastly, please remind you to register online your students’ films by July 10th. The selective committee has started his viewing work. Results will be announced on September 17th.
