Forum on Law, Culture & Society 2016 International Shorts Competition Early Entry Deadline : MAY 31st
Submit your short film on a legal, justice, or human rights theme to the FOLCS International Short Film Competition today!
Have an opinion on the legal system? On what "true justice" means? Is there a court case or a human rights issue you feel passionate about? Now is your chance to share it through the FOLCS International Short Film Competition, a competition dedicated to filmmakers exploring the matters of law and justice in our society.
“Legal theme" may be broadly construed. Entrants are free to choose any subject in which the relationship between law, justice, and society can be fashioned into a unique visual story. For example, films could be about rights that have been denied, harms that have gone unaddressed, the aftereffects of courtroom decisions, government regulations and statutes, or an attempt to take a new look at what “justice” really means.
Any genre is permitted. Films should run no more than 20 minutes.
Finalist shorts will be screened at the FOLCS Awards Night during the Annual FOLCS Film Festival in New York City in Fall 2016. Each year the Film Festival features renowned filmmakers, actors, writers, journalists, public intellectuals, and members of the legal profession. The Film Festival also attracts overflowing and diverse crowds of film enthusiasts, which provides a great platform for showcasing your winning work! The FOLCS Awards Night opens with a red carpet for our attending filmmakers and includes an awards presentation and reception. In addition, the audience has the opportunity to vote on which short will receive the Audience Favorite Award!
Awards: Best Short, Best Screenplay, Outstanding Woman Filmmaker, Young Filmmaker (18 years and under), & Audience Favorite.
Winner of Best Short Award will also receive an InkTip Script Listing.
